Diet Supplements to Increase Fat-Burning

January 31, 2017 - By The Writehand Man

Everyone who exercises wants to burn fat.  The million-dollar question is what is the best way to do it?

Here is one way to burn fat:  You run.  You run often and you run fast.  It’s effective, but it takes a lot of work and dedication.

Here is another proven way to burn fat:  You do strength training with weights.  This increases lean muscle mass which accelerates your metabolic rate. Better still, you combine strength/weight training with cardio exercise to keep your heart rate up through your entire workout.

Want another one?  You supplement the exercises mentioned here with caffeine.  Caffeine literally transports fat from fat-cells into your bloodstream where it is burned as fuel for your body. Unfortunately, caffeine has been known to give some people the jitters.

There is good news for those who do not enjoy the breathless heart-pounding feeling brought on by a stimulant-based fat burner like caffeine. Fat-burners do not have to make your heart race in order to be effective.  Plenty of fat-burning supplements do not raise your metabolism.  In fact, many weight-loss and fitness experts are now recommending an advanced approach to fat-burning that combines several ingredients to aid fat-loss through different mechanisms.

The following supplements attack body fat from different angles.  Some ingredients blunt hunger while others free up fat from fat cells.  Others turn on genes that encourage greater fat loss, while some simply burn more calories.  Knowing the function of the most common fat-burning ingredients, you can pick products that will best fit into your fat-loss program.

Capsaicin

Capsaicin occurs naturally in peppers.  It is the substance that gives hot peppers their heat.  The more capsaicin present, the hotter the pepper will be.  Capsaicin is a popular fat-burning supplement because it increases calorie burning by raising norepinephrine levels, resulting in an increased metabolic rate without affecting heart rate or blood pressure.  It also suppresses appetite, so not only do you burn more calories, you consume fewer as well.

Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA)

CLA is a healthy Omega-6 fat that enhances fat loss while simultaneously encouraging muscle growth and strength.  It works by inhibiting lipoprotein lipase (LPL).  LPL is an enzyme that allows fat cells to absorb fat from the bloodstream and store it as body fat.  By inhibiting the action of LPL, CLA prevents the body from storing fat and thus encourages the burning of fat in the bloodstream as fuel.

Green Coffee Extract

Green Coffee extract is derived, as you might expect, from unroasted coffee beans.  Unroasted beans contain chlorogenic acid-a critical component for fat loss.  Chlorogenic acid works in concert with caffeine found in coffee beans to burn fat that caffeine frees from the fat cells.  Several studies have confirmed that supplementing with green coffee extract can lead to significant fat loss.

Green Tea Extract

Much has been about the health benefits of green tea extract.  It is sort of a super-supplement that is effective for fat burning along with a host of other benefits.  Green tea contains catechins which inhibit an enzyme that breaks down norepinephrine.  Norepinephrine is a hormone related to adrenaline that speeds up calorie and fat burning in the body.

Raspberry Ketones

Raspberry Ketones are compounds naturally occurring in red raspberries.  They work in a similar manner as capsaicin to burn body fat.  Raspberry ketones may also activate hormone-sensitive lipase, causing fat in fat cells to break down and be released into the bloodstream where it is burned as fuel.

Glucomannan

Glucomannan is a water-soluble dietary fiber derived from the konjac root.  It expands to many times its original volume when mixed with water.  This expansion significantly curbs hunger by filling the stomach and giving the feeling of fullness.  It also delays stomach emptying, slowing digestion and the absorption of carbohydrates. This stabilizes blood glucose levels and prevents insulin spikes, thereby inhibiting fat storage.

These are just a few of the many dietary supplements at your disposal

Fish Oil

Fish oil is among the richest sources of essential Omega-3 fatty acids.  The many health benefits of fish oil are well documented but recent evidence indicates that Omega-3 fats directly turn on genes that increase fat-burning while simultaneously turning off genes that encourage fat storage.

Used correctly, and combined with exercise, these and other fat-burning supplements can have a positive effect on your fat-loss program without giving you a bad case of the jitters.
